The Harmonica

𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭-
As part of the visual identity for our football tournament, we have crafted a mascot that captures the unifying essence of sport while also expressing our steadfast support for the Palestinian cause.
At the heart of this design is the 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐝, the nation’s official bird, selected for its vibrant symbolism of perseverance, grace and the enduring spirit of a people. It serves as a proud emblem of both national heritage and the pursuit of freedom.
Perched boldly in front of a blood-red football, the bird’s wings are outstretched as if in defiance rising above oppression. The football is illustrated with textured blotches and splatter marks, subtly but powerfully referencing the ongoing bloodshed and humanitarian crisis in Gaza and across Palestine. This visual metaphor transforms the ball from a symbol of sport into a stark reminder of the struggle for justice, survival and peace.
The Palestinian Sunbird (Cinnyris osea) was not chosen by chance. Known for its dazzling iridescent feathers and small stature, this bird survives and thrives in the harshest environments—a perfect metaphor for the Palestinian people. Despite its size, the sunbird is fierce, proud, and unyielding—a silent protestor against erasure.
The red tones not only represent the blood of the innocent but also reflect passion, courage and sacrifice—the spirit of a people who refuse to be silenced. The contrast between the delicate bird and the intense backdrop emphasizes the duality of hope and suffering, resistance and remembrance.
This BBFC mascot is not just a symbol of our tournament. It is our statement. It tells the world that we play, we stand and we rise with Palestine—through every pass, every goal and every cheer.

Ayad

The freshwater Gangetic dolphin (River Dolphin) named “Ayad”.

Currently, this Gangetic dolphin is a critically endangered species. This dolphin is found in the Sundarbans of Bangladesh, the Halda River of Chittagong, and the Padma-Jamuna-Brahmaputra and its tributaries. Earlier, this dolphin was also occasionally seen in our Jamuna River. In 2022, a fisherman hunted this critically endangered dolphin from the Dhaleshwari River in Nagarpur, Tangail.

The IUCN has placed this Gangetic dolphin on the “Red List of Critically Endangered Species”. It is the responsibility and duty of all of us to protect this species of Gangetic dolphin and create awareness among everyone to protect them. This freshwater Gangetic dolphin is on the verge of extinction day by day due to human greed, prejudice and ignorance.

Let us all be aware and come forward from our position to protect this endangered dolphin.

Why is our BBFC mascot this time called “Ayad”? Have you noticed why the mascot is in the shape of a baby dolphin? And, which country’s flag is the flag in Ayad’s hand? I hope you have noticed!

Madhu Miya

Today, the whole world is facing a global war against climate change and environmental pollution. In that war, our best friend is the forests, which are facing a crisis today. One such friend of our Tangail people is Madhu (Madhupur Forest), with whom we have a soul connection. That is why we affectionately named him “Madhu Miya”.

Madhu Miya is a favorite face and a symbol of trust among the youth. Madhu Miya dreams and believes that the youth will be the leaders in this war to save his land.

Among these vital ecosystems stands Madhupur Forest, or Madhu, a forest not just of trees and soil, but of stories, history, and spirit—deeply woven into the identity of Tangail and its people. To the locals, Madhu is more than a forest—he is family. This heartfelt connection inspired the name “Madhu Miya”, a personified symbol of nature, born out of both affection and activism.

From this BBFC 2023, we, the youth, want to move forward with this slogan,

” With the power of youth, the liberation of green.”
